Their Lives Matter - " Big Hug" Memorial Plates Ordering

Ordering is open for the “Big Hug” Memorial sculpture memorial plates. The sculpture is located in the Sunrise Garden, North Beach, Maryland. Space is limited and plates will be ordered three times a year. These plates are designated for those in our community who have died from an overdose.

The order deadline dates are:

  • May 30, 2025

  • September 30, 2025

The cost per plate is $20 and payment is by check or money order made payable to the Calvert Alliance Against Substance, Abuse, Inc. Mail form and payment to CAASA at P.O. Box 2104, Prince Frederick, MD 20678. For questions, call 410-535-3733 or e-mail CAASA@calvertcountymd.gov.

International Overdose Awareness Day is a global event to raise awareness that overdose death is preventable and to reduce the stigma associated with drug-related death. This day also acknowledges the grief felt by family and friends remembering those who have died or had a permanent injury as the result of a drug overdose.

Focusing on this year’s theme of “TOGETHER WE CAN”, our guest speakers will be:
